Valentino Desantis |
Born in Manduria (Taranto) on 3 February 1969, Valentino graduated in Classical Studies with an emphasis on History and Archaeology from the l’Università degli Studi di Lecce (now Università del Salento) in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, with a dissertation on Archaeological Survey of Ancient Italy with Professor M. Guaitoli. He then went on to complete post graduate work, becoming proficient in Aerial Archaeology with Professor G. Ceraudo at the “D. Adamesteanu” School of Specialization in Classical and Medieval Archaeology in the Faulty of Cultural Heritage at the same university. Since 1994, he has carried out many archaeological excavations and studies in Italy as well as abroad commissioned by universities, regional boards or other institutional bodies. He has also tested his mettle in designing and leading major public works projects. Over the years, he has specialized in advanced graphic, archaeological, topographic and mapping survey techniques using software applications and designing GIS systems for archaeological applications. Since 2003 Valentino Desantis has been Managing Director of Akra Iapygia in Lecce. email:
